Question:
When I divorced, I did not revoke my Power of Attorney for my ex-wife. Do I need to officially do it or is it automatic because of the divorce?
Answer:
I am unable to give you legal advice on divorce. I can give general divorce help for men, though, my knowledge is based on Oklahoma divorce laws where I am licensed to practice.
I am not aware of any statutory or case law in my state that indicates a power of attorney automatically terminates upon a Decree of Dissolution of Marriage.
From a conservative approach, I would revoke the power of attorney to ensure that there are no complications from such.
