St. Louis divorce lawyerQuestion:

I am in child support arrears for my children who are all adults now. My only income is my disability payments and even that is being garnished.

The garnishment is so high that I can barely survive off the little remaining income. How can I get this child support garnishment lowered?

St. Louis divorce lawyerQuestion:

I need to know the correct procedure I need to take to get back child support dropped or even modified.

At the beginning of our marriage separation period she started receiving government assistance which in turn led to me having child support garnished from my paychecks. She said she took care of the situation and child support stopped being garnished.

Now, several years later, child support is coming after me saying I have failed to pay child support his entire time. So even though no money was being garnished, my arrears were apparently building up.

The child support enforcement agency is just treating me like a "deadbeat dad" and won't listen to my case.

How can I get child support modified?

St. Louis divorce lawyerQuestion:

What are the legal collection methods for unpaid child support?

I owe back child support and am paying through a wage garnishment.

Can the child support enforcement agency also freeze or garnish my bank account to take those assets as well?

Question:Colorado Divorce Attorney

My child support question is about wage garnishment. I have a monthly child support obligation that I have never failed to meet.

Recently I switched from writing checks to paying electronically, and now my is refusing to accept the electronic checks. So the child support enforcement agency is now garnishing my wages and treating me like a deadbeat.

How can this be? Can they garnish wages simply because my ex is refusing to cash the child support payment via electronic check?

divorce lawyer Daniel ExnerQuestion:

I owe back child support payments due to an arrearage building up when my children were younger and I was unable to pay.

Recently, the child support agency has notified me of my outstanding balance for past child support obligations, even though my children are in their 40s now.

Since I am now retired, can the state intercept and garnish my social security payments for purposes of paying off my child support arrears?
