Ann Arbor Michigan Divorce LawyerQuestion:

I'm looking for advice on divorce and whether I was properly served for my divorce. I was served with divorce papers while in the courthouse for an unrelated matter.

I read that according to my state's divorce laws these papers may not be served while in transit to and from the courthouse and while on the court's property.

So was I properly served? Should I contest the service process?

divorce jurisdictionBy Sara Pitcher

Noblesville, Indiana Divorce Lawyer

If divorcing parties physically separate and move to different counties, or even different states before legally separating, this can raise questions as to where to where the jurisdiction is in order to file for the dissolution of the marriage or the legal separation.

In order to determine which is the proper court in which to bring your action for dissolution or legal separation, you must look at which court would have jurisdiction over the action and over the parties involved.

New Jersey divorce lawyerQuestion:

I filed a request to enter a default divorce judgment against my wife because she refused to cooperate throughout the divorce process.

On the date of the default hearing, my wife finally appeared in court, but rather than issue a default judgment the judge ordered we had to try and reach a marriage settlement agreement before granting the divorce.

If we can't reach a divorce settlement, the judge said she would allow my wife to answer the divorce complaint. All this after months of my wife refusing to communicate with me and now the divorce will take even longer.

Was the judge within her legal rights to do this?

Texas divorce lawyerQuestion:

My wife is having an affair and I want to know if it's worth the effort to address in divorce court.

I do not have any "professional" documentation or evidence of her affair other than her admissions to me and the fact she has moved out and is believed to be living with another man.

What advantages are there in proving her infidelity and affairs in a divorce case? Is it worth pursuing?

Houston Divorce LawyerQuestion:

I am paying child support in addition to insurance reimbursement.

The child support amount is not the problem; it's the monthly insurance reimbursement, which accounts for roughly 20% of my monthly income!

Is there a limit to the amount of insurance reimbursement I am ordered to pay in addition to child support?
