advice on divorceQuestion:

My divorce decree states I am responsible for paying college tuition for four years of college for each of my children.

I feel it is a violation of fathers rights to be forced to pay for college tuition.

What are my rights? Can this provision to pay for college tuition be reversed?

Houston Divorce LawyerQuestion:

I am finishing up my military duties and am looking to adjust my child support.

Once I leave the military, I will be returning to school full time in order to finish my college education.

How do I go about modifying child support to reflect my new situation of being out of the military and a full-time student?

St. Louis divorce lawyerQuestion:

My state's child support laws are requiring me to help pay for my child's college tuition.

Many years ago, my wife's parents set up investment accounts for our child with the general understanding that this money was to pay for a college education, though it was never put in writing.

My soon-to-be-ex feels that since the money originated from her side of the family it is only to be used to help defray her cost of paying for our child's college. I think the money should be used for its intended purpose and then my wife and I would split any extra costs.

Do child support laws state that if the child has assets in her name that those assets should be consumed first before the remaining costs are split by the parents?

Question:Kevin Mammola Atlanta Divorce Attorney

Do child support laws force you to pay child support through college?

My child will be graduating high school next year at the age of 18. My original divorce decree calls for me to pay child support through age 20 or completion of high school, whichever comes first.

Can the custodial parent now apply to have the child support continued into college?

mens divorce lawyer William BackerQuestion:

My question regards child support laws and when my child is considered emancipated.

My son just graduated from high school at the age of 20 due to his poor grades and lack of attendance.

I thought I would be done paying child support at this point, but I've heard that I have to wait until October 1 to request a child support termination because he may enroll in college. It's my understanding that if he enrolls in college, I will have to continue paying until he turns 21.

Is this true?
