divorce lawyer Daniel ExnerQuestion:

My divorce question is about a new modification and its effects on other parts of the decree that have been left untouched.

Our divorce decree says that my ex-wife and I will pay 50% of our child's health care costs. She has repeatedly failed to pay her full share of the monthly costs.

We went through a child custody modification last year where the visitation schedule was modified, though no other parts of the decree were.

Since a modification to the decree was previously made, does this effect all other parts of the divorce decree? So if she owes me financial support, am I able to go after her for reimbursement or is everything, including owed support, lost because there has already been a modification?

advice on divorceQuestion:

My divorce decree states I am responsible for paying college tuition for four years of college for each of my children.

I feel it is a violation of fathers rights to be forced to pay for college tuition.

What are my rights? Can this provision to pay for college tuition be reversed?

act like a manKen Solin is the author of "Act Like A Man" a book featuring guys who help each other identify, examine, and move beyond their dysfunctional behavior as partners, fathers, and friends.

Solin has worked for 20 years with men to move them beyond the issues, including divorce, that limit their lives.

A big part of Solin's message is men need to seek help and support groups rather than try and go it alone. He talked with DadsDivorce.com editor about his experience in his male-only support group and what it takes to "Act Like A Man."

Houston Divorce LawyerQuestion:

We share joint physical custody almost 50/50, but my ex is listed as the primary custodial parent simply because she works from home.

Because she is listed as the primary parent, I am obligated to pay child support yet the child support calculations did not account for her salary. Is this correct?

Also, if we are splitting parenting time why is it that I am obligated to pay child support simply because of a technicality that we had to list one parent as "primary"?

advice on divorceQuestion:

Per our divorce decree and state child support laws, my child support payments end when our child reaches the age of 18 or when he graduates from high school, whichever occurs last.

My child has already reached 18 and has already finished his course work to complete high school, yet he doesn't actually participate in his high school graduation ceremony until this summer when the rest of his class graduates.

So should my child support terminate when he actually completes all of his course work or must I continue paying until this summer when he walks across the stage and physically is awarded his diploma?
