My nephew just found out through a DNA test that he is the father of a child who is now in foster care. The child is 10 months old and was put in foster care about 6 months ago. How does he go about getting custody of his daughter. Also, the mother of the child is a complete mess. Did she give up her parental rights when the daughter entered foster care? If not, how long does the mother of a child have to get her act together before the state will permanently terminate parental rights?
My wife and I have been married for 20+ years and have four children. We have worked on our marriage with our pastor for the last couple of months and now I fear it is coming to the inevitable dissolution of our marriage. I “melted down” and rather than go home and have another argument in front of the kids, I went to my parents’ home to think for a night. When I returned home she and the children were gone. She had instructed the children not to return my texts or calls to their cell phones. I finally found out they were safe, but it appears divorce is inevitable. I do not understand why her feelings towards me have changed, but I do realize that my life is in our children. How and what can I do to protect myself and my children in this process? What do I need to do in preparation for this to ensure their happiness and safety?
My girlfriend and I broke up 3 weeks ago because she is moving back to Korea with her family. She recently told me she is two months pregnant. I had this confirmed. She wants nothing from me financially or legally. All she wants is for me to voluntarily terminate my parental rights. Is this necessary if the child is born in another country and I am not listed on the birth certificate? Can this be done and accepted in court before the child is actually born? |
