Ask a Divorce Lawyer: Should I have to pay for medical bills and daycare expenses I wasn't aware of?

Posted by Matt Allen in medical , Erica Christian , daycare , Cordell Cordell, PC , Ask A Lawyer

Question: My ex-girlfriend, the mother of our 5-year-old son, will not consult me regarding any decisions for our son. We have joint custody so I assume that means we have to consult about decisions affecting our son.

She’s had dental work done for our son, has changed daycare services, etc., all without telling me beforehand. And she expects me to pay for services that I was not aware of.

Can I file contempt of court on her for not following the court order?

Question:

My ex used her live-in boyfriend to look after our child while he was off work. Both my ex and I were working over the winter school break. Am I required to pay for that week of daycare services even though my child didn’t go to daycare?
