Ask A Lawyer: How Do I Plan For a Divorce?

Posted by: pmcmahon

Question:

I've been Iraq for almost two years now, and have been married for 23 years as of this month.  I just found out that my wife has been cheating on me, but she does not know that I know the truth. What advice can you give me on how to plan for a divorce settlement?

Answer:

You do not state whether you want a divorce or are anticipating an action by her.  You can start by reading Joseph Cordell’s books on divorce, available on the DadsDivorce website, and consulting with an attorney in your jurisdiction.

Erik H. Carter is a Senior Attorney of the Cordell & Cordell, P.C. office in Indianapolis, Indiana as well as the Litigation Manager of both the Indianapolis and Pittsburgh offices. Mr. Carter has practiced since 1993 as an attorney. He is licensed in Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania as well as the Northern District of Indiana and the Southern District of Indiana.
