The idea of helping people in difficult times is what Maura C. Boogay found appealing about family law, which involves representing people in a very challenging time in their lives.

Since these cases can be so emotionally charged and personal, Ms. Boogay stresses to her clients the importance of building a relationship with your attorney where you are comfortable sharing sensitive and revealing information.

"It is only through open communication that your attorney can best understand your case and set up realistic expectations and goals for your matter," she said.

The key to a successful case is organization since it is one of the most important aspects of a family law proceeding, according to Ms. Boogay.

"You have to be extremely organized when it comes to family law matters. Settlement discussions and hearings will often move quickly and the best way to win is to be prepared and know your case," she said. "You have to be familiar with each document related to your case and be prepared to present it into evidence at a moment’s notice. Being organized is more than half the battle, and the courts especially appreciate a well-organized proceeding."

Ms. Boogay is licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Bachelor of Arts in English from Clemson University; Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law.

Philadelphia Bar Association – Family Law Section, Pennsylvania Bar Association – Family Law Section and the Nicholas Cipriani Inn of Court.

Prior to joining Cordell & Cordell, Ms. Boogay practiced with a small general practice firm and focused primarily on family law with some practice involving criminal law and estate planning.
