Divorce attorney Jason BowmanQuestion:

My child is a senior in high school who lives in another state with my ex-wife. He is currently looking at colleges. I have been excluded from all college visits and am not made aware of any information the colleges are sending him.

If I will be paying part of his college tuition, is there anything I can do legally to be made a part of his college selection process?

"Does child support include higher education degrees for children? I have paid part of college tuition for my daughter who has graduated college. I thought I was over with support, but now she is talking about going to law school. Do I have to pay for second degrees, too?"

This is an interesting topic that surfaces in some divorce cases.

Question:

As part of our divorce decree, my ex-wife agreed to pay 40% of all college tuition, fees and necessities. She told me last week that she is broke, has no money and no intention of contributing to the cost of college.

What are my legal rights in this case? Do I have to hire a lawyer, which I can't afford, to chase after what she is legally bound to pay or can I go after her through the state?

Divorce attorney Jason BowmanQuestion:

I pay my son's private school tuition directly to my ex as stated in the divorce decree, but she signed the contract and will not let me see the invoice. I believe she is getting financial aid and pocketing my money, which should be going toward private school.

I asked the school for a copy and they said since I wasn't on the contract they did not know if they could share that information. As a paying father, do I have the right to access my son's private school tuition financial records?
