St. Louis divorce lawyerQuestion:

My wife and I in a separation period, though still legally married. My wife and her mother (my mother-in-law) are trying to change my son’s school district, presumably closer to my wife so she would have a better chance at getting custody.

My wife is also planning on giving her mother power of attorney so that she will have the right to review and determine our child's education.

Can she give her mother power of attorney without my consent and then move my son to another school district?

snow day parenting timeBy Erin Brockhoff

Belleville, Illinois Divorce Lawyer

As winter weather and resulting snow days makes dreams come true for children across the country, it raises the issue of how parenting time and child custody exchanges are handled on unexpected days off from school.

Typical child custody exchanges on normal school days usually occur after school the school day ends. But who gets the child on snow days when school is canceled on little notice?

Is it treated as a holiday and parents should follow the holiday parenting time schedule or is it just considered a normal day and the child custody exchange should take place as usual even though the kids aren't in school that day?

Indiana divorce lawyerQuestion:

My ex-wife has primary custody of our son, but I would like to know if I can modify the child custody schedule due to his poor grades.

Over the last several years our son has failed the majority of his classes and gotten in trouble at school, including a recent suspension.

Is the fact that he is failing out of school and is routinely in trouble because of his poor behavior enough of a reason to attempt to modify child custody and have him live with me?

Question:Kevin Mammola Atlanta Divorce Attorney

How do child support laws address paying for school lunches?

My ex-wife is asking me for more money to cover the cost of lunch on top of the child support I already pay.

Are school lunches covered by child support, and is there any written documentation I can provide to my ex-wife?

Indiana divorce lawyerQuestion:

My ex-wife and I share child custody 50-50. We live near each other but in different school district boundaries.

She wants to pull our kids out of the school district they have been in their whole lives (the one in my neighborhood) and enroll them in a school district closer to her a few miles away.

Can my ex-wife place the children in another school district without my consent?
