Divorce Attorney Angela FoyQuestion:

My husband is the non-custodial parent of two kids. His ex-wife has custody and he pays her child support. Recently, she has been asking for money for extracurricular activities because she says her gas and electric are being shut off and she needs the extra support.

She signs the kids up for numerous activities, passes to the zoo and the pool, and they just got back from a vacation, but she can't afford to pay her gas and electric bills!

What should we do about this? Would this be grounds for a change in custody? Do we contact DCFS?

Question

What would be the outcome for the custodial parent who moved to another state without notifying the noncustodial parent and the court? Has there ever been a case like this?

This Wednesday and Thursday evening The Department of Human Resources will seep public input on proposed revisions to Maryland's child support guidelines.

One of the issues to be discussed is the minimal dollar amount that a low-income, non-custodial parent requires for his or her own shelter, food and clothing.

The department will sponsor six regional forums to solicit public comments. The public is welcome to attend any session.
