traveling out of countryBy Sara Pitcher

Noblesville, Indiana Divorce Lawyer

If you plan on traveling out of the country with your children, then additional steps other than the ones outlined in "Traveling Out Of State With Children" must be taken.

Travel outside of the country may be substantially more difficult or even prohibited all together, especially if the travel would be to a country that is not a party to the Hague Convention.

international custodyBy Matt Allen

Editor, DadsDivorce.com

Because of the difference between Japanese and American laws regarding custody and kidnapping, Japan has become a safe refuge for parents who abduct their own children and want to keep them away from their American fathers.

Mens divorce lawyerQuestion:

My ex-wife and I divorced in the Netherlands while I was based there in the military. I pay her child support while she and my children live in Holland and I am back in the U.S.

I am unable to keep up with my child support payments. Can I modify the orders if they were issued in the Netherlands? How would I go about doing this if I live in America?

Mens divorce lawyerQuestion:

My wife, who is a Native American, has moved with our child to another country without my consent. I currently have a Hague Convention access case pending in an attempt to get access to my son.

How can I get my child returned? Is my child's tribal heritage a factor?

Divorce Attorney Angela FoyQuestion:

My ex-wife took my daughter to Taiwan for what was supposed to be 6-month vacation. I agreed to it so my daughter could get the experience.

Now she is asking me to sign a paper for her to get a resident visa and states she wants stay there for another year.

Can she obtain a visa without my signature? What about my visitation rights? I only agreed to a 6-month period, not a year and a half!
