Question:

My wife has moved to another state with our infant daughter during our divorce proceeding and is now requesting a guardian ad litem for our custody case.

We have a relocation hearing pending that will be decided after the child custody report.

How can the guardian ad litem investigate when my wife and child are located in another state? She's the one who removed my child and moved out of state so what is there to investigate?

Visitation interference is pervasive affecting approximately 6 million children nationwide, yet most states disregard enforcing court-ordered parenting time schedules.

The law is swift and severe when child support is unpaid, but when a father is denied access to his child there are few remedies available.

However, Illinois is one of the latest states to protect visitation orders following the recent passage of legislation that applies many of the sanctions available in non-payment of child support cases to those of visitation and access interference.

Question:

I had to relocate out of state following my divorce because of work. The judge in the child custody case would not allow me to modify the visitation schedule because the children were young and he thought I abandoned them.

The airfare costs to travel and see them every month are really hurting me. Now that the kids are older I feel like I should be able to modify the parenting time schedule so they can see me more often and travel to my home. I would like to have a 50-50 schedule where I see them 6 months a year.

Are there standard visitation guidelines for out-of-state parents?

Question:

My divorce lawyer told me that I have little to no chance of obtaining 50-50 parenting time in my child custody case because my child is very attached to his half-brother and the court wouldn't want to remove him from that bond.

So I was basically told that my kid's half-sibling has more rights to my child than I do!

Why are fathers rights completely ignored in child custody cases? Is there anything I can do to prove to the courts that I deserve to see my child just as much as my ex-wife?

Question:

I live in another state from where my ex-wife filed a motion requesting child support (California).

I received a notice that I am due in court next week, but I live on the other side of the country and can't possibly afford to fly and take time off work for a hearing.

How can I protect myself so that my ex-wife is not granted everything she wants at a hearing that is almost impossible for me to attend?
