divorce lawyer Alex DurstQuestion:

A few months after our divorce was final and I was ordered to pay alimony, my ex-wife began receiving Social Security Disability.

How will this effect the spousal support I pay her? Can it increase or decrease based on her receiving payments that were not figured in the divorce?

divorce lawyer Caroline ThompsonQuestion:

I am paying child support for my 21-year-old son who was diagnosed as mentally handicapped, though he is capable of working and functioning independently.

After visiting several psychiatrists who deemed our son just had a behavior disorder, my ex-wife found one who agreed with her that he was mentally handicapped so my child support would continue.

Will I continue having to pay child support indefinitely so long as my child is living with my ex-wife and is diagnosed as mentally handicapped?

St. Louis divorce lawyerQuestion:

At the time of my divorce I was not disabled, but I now receive disability benefits and my retirement pay has thus been reduced.

My ex-wife had a clause entered in the decree stating that I could not claim disability and reduce my retired pay.

Must I pay her the money that was reduced because of my disability?

Mens divorce lawyerQuestion:

What are the child support laws when supporting a disabled child?

My husband is paying a high amount of child support for his disabled child even after the child has reached the age of emancipation and is receiving SSI disability benefits.

Is a child support modification in order or will he continue paying child support indefinitely since his child is disabled?

I currently receive SSI benefits for my disability.

If I were to receive alimony or a majority of the assets in our divorce, would that affect the amount of SSI I would receive?
