tampa divorce lawyerQuestion:

My child support modification hearing was dismissed because I was late in filing the necessary documentation with the court.

I have proof that my child support arrears are paid off along with income statements showing my substantial decrease in earnings that should qualify for a child support modification.

How can I get my child support case re-heard since I believe the only reason for dismissing my motion to modify was because I missed the deadline?

St. Louis divorce lawyerQuestion:

My child support is currently being garnished from my paycheck because I owe back child support.

I am now moving out of state and was wondering how child support enforcement would work.

Can the state that issued my child support orders still garnish my paycheck for arrears if I move to another state?

St. Louis divorce lawyerQuestion:

I owe a substantial amount in child support arrears and am worried I will be thrown in jail.

The state is preparing to take away my driver’s license and my professional licenses, which will leave me unable to drive or work and result in jail time. This only makes the problem worse!

What can I do to prevent the state from taking these actions and forcing me into falling even further behind on child support?

divorce stressBy Nathan A. Hacker

Indianapolis Divorce Lawyer

Divorce is likely one of the most stressful times in your life.

The picture to the right lists the 25 most stressful events in a person’s life, according to StressAffect.com.

It’s probable that you are currently experiencing at least one of, if not several of, these events currently.

If you are going through a divorce (#2) in all likelihood you are also going through a separation (#3), there is a change in your financial state (#16), an increase in arguments with your wife (#19) and presumably trouble with the in-laws (#24).

If you add up the scores associated with the stressful event, that’s 240 stress points.

Notice that the second most stressful event is going through a divorce. Divorce can cause you to contemplate getting rid of the everyday stress of work and do what you always wanted.

St. Louis divorce lawyerQuestion:

I need to know the correct procedure I need to take to get back child support dropped or even modified.

At the beginning of our marriage separation period she started receiving government assistance which in turn led to me having child support garnished from my paychecks. She said she took care of the situation and child support stopped being garnished.

Now, several years later, child support is coming after me saying I have failed to pay child support his entire time. So even though no money was being garnished, my arrears were apparently building up.

The child support enforcement agency is just treating me like a "deadbeat dad" and won't listen to my case.

How can I get child support modified?
