Mens divorce lawyerQuestion:

Do child custody laws do anything to prevent parents from bringing dangerous people around their children?

My ex and I split child custody, but she has a boyfriend who drinks a lot and even does drugs. I have no proof this is done in front of my children, but I know she brings him around my kids.

Can I keep her boyfriend from being around our kids during her parenting time?

Mens divorce lawyerQuestion:

Child support is bankrupting me. I have a part-time job making minimum wage yet I am ordered to pay $500 a month in child support plus an extra $200 to cover arrears I accrued while unemployed.

My wages are garnished along with them garnishing half of my unemployment benefits.

Can they charge me this much child support and apply two wage garnishments when I make very little money?

Mens divorce lawyerQuestion:

Do child support laws for modifications apply for divorces less than one year old?

We were divorced in December 2010. At the time of the divorce she claimed not to work, though she currently is self-employed making a decent income.

I would like to lower my child support payments based on the fact that I don't believe her income was fully disclosed to the court at the time the divorce was final.

Is it possible to get a child support modification so soon after we divorced?

Mens divorce lawyerQuestion:

My wife and I are disagreeing about when we should have kids. We are recently married and I do not want kids yet. She says she understands but I am not sure she will stop trying to get pregnant.

Is it possible for both of us to sign a binding, legal agreement that if she does get pregnant that we would give the baby up for adoption?

Mens divorce lawyerQuestion:

Do child support laws allow a closed child support case in one state to be opened in another state where there is a higher age of emancipation?

We were divorced in one state (Texas) and my ex-wife and child live in another state (Missouri). The case jurisdiction was never moved to Missouri.

Per Texas child support laws, my child was emancipated earlier this year when she turned 18 and graduated high school so my child support case was closed.

Now my ex-wife wants to continue child support until our daughter is 21, which is the age of emancipation in Missouri if the child is in college.

Can a closed child support case in one state be opened in another state if the age of emancipation is different?
