Attorney Lisa HansenQuestion:

My wife has recently asked me for a divorce after her infidelity. We are trying to keep it civil, thus seeking mediation rather than a divorce trial in court. Both of our names are on the marital home. Is there some sort of signed agreement that we can make that would eliminate me having to give her half of the proceeds, should I sell the house in the next year or two?  Is there any way to maybe keep her name on the loan if I need another one, but not have to ever give her half of the proceeds if and when I sell the house?

Also, if her and I are in total agreement on splitting up our debt, assets, etc., do we even need mediation or legal representation or can we handle it pro se?

Attorney Lisa HansenQuestion:

My wife just left me and filed for separation while I was deployed overseas by the military. She moved herself and the kids to another state about six hours away, and she now wants me to drive halfway to meet her for visitation. I thought that I had read somewhere that she would have to provide the transportation for the visits because she took the kids and moved to out of state. Is this the law or did my brain make this up? How should I go about dealing with this?

Attorney Lisa HansenQuestion:

My daughter's mother recently found out about a condo and truck I recently purchased and put in someone else's name. Is there any way she can prove that I own these items, such as through discovery? I am afraid that if she pulls my credit card statements she will see the repair items I purchased, and then if she gets invoices pulled from the companies I purchased the items from she can prove that they went to this new address. Is this possible? Is there any way to keep her from doing this?

Attorney Lisa HansenQuestion:

My son only lives with me about one-third of the time, but this summer I will have for 8 full weeks of his summer vacation. Am I still required to pay my ex wife child support during the time he is in my full care for two straight months?

Attorney Lisa HansenQuestion:

My ex-wife was awarded the marital house in our divorce. I signed over the deed to her. Now our mortgage company is calling me saying they are getting ready to default. Apparently she never took my name off the loan and this was several years ago. Am I responsible for any part of this loan?
