dividing property divorceQuestion:

My wife and I are separated, but we have not filed for divorce yet.

I recently purchased a vehicle during our separation period and want to know about property division laws.

Since we are still legally married, does my wife have any rights to my vehicle even though it is exclusively in my name and it was purchased during a separation?

Omaha Nebraska Divorce LawyerQuestion:

In my divorce, my ex-wife and I were to split all debts 50-50. However, she has failed to pay many of the utility bills and now those companies are coming after me for full payment because she is not working.

Can I just show them the divorce court order that I am only responsible for half the debt and that they need to go through my ex-wife for the other half? Or will these companies hold me fully responsible for these debts?

advice on divorceQuestion:

In my recent divorce ruling the court order leaves me with an inability pay my ex-wife what the court awarded and still have enough money to live on.

Is there anything I can do? How can a court order a financial award that is above the means of the paying party?

misuse parenting timeBy Julie Garrison

Special to DadsDivorce.com

My previous article "Is Your Ex-Wife Ignoring Your Children During Parenting Time?" addressed a common situation when a divorced dad feels his ex-wife is not properly caring for the children during her parenting time.

Frequently cited examples include mom increasingly leaving the child for longer periods at daycare or with babysitters to spend more time with her new boyfriend, and that mom has begun going out later, drinking more than normal, and sometimes picking up the children from daycare after happy hour.

Here are 6 actions a father can try to remedy the situation and help his children when he believes his ex-wife is being neglectful to their children during her parenting time.

hidden assets divorceBy Grant Webb

Bisk Education

In divorce cases where hidden assets are suspected, it is often the husband who has been accused of concealing accounts or funds that might be used against him during the settlement proceedings.

However, this fraudulent financial activity is not limited to just men. More and more women are in charge of handling their family’s finances, meaning that a woman may be just as likely to hide assets from her husband in order to manipulate a ruling in her favor.

The important thing to know is that when one spouse possesses the bulk of a household's financial control, he or she naturally gains the upper hand in their monetary affairs, making it easier to hide assets.
