A DUI is never a good thing to have on your record, especially when you’re fighting for child custody.

But depending on the circumstances, your background and your behavior, a DUI is not necessarily a deal breaker.

Question: 

My soon-to-be ex-wife was cited with a DUI after she served me with divorce papers. Will I be responsible for her increase in auto insurance due to her DUI?

My wife and I are about to file for a divorce, but I would also like to file for joint legal and physical custody. My wife has stated that I am abusive, but I'm not. There has never been a police report filed, but she says she will state this anyway. I'm a great father, having always supported my kids emotionally and financially.

My question is: Can her accusations prevent me from getting joint custody?  Also, since she has two DUI’s within the last 12 years, and as a result a suspended license on her record, will this help my case? How should I go about preparing to bring up her history if I need to?

Financially, when does the separation officially occur? Is it the date of filing for divorce?

My wife recently filed for divorce. About two months after filing, she then wrecked the car and was charged with a DUI. Am I responsible for her legal bills?

My ex wife just got re-married again for the 2nd time. She has custody of my children. Her new husband has 3 kids from another marriage, and has been in jail for DUI's.

He has supervised visitation rights on his kids, what can I do if I don’t want my son around him?
