My previous article "Is Your Ex-Wife Ignoring Your Children During Parenting Time?" addressed a common situation when a divorced dad feels his ex-wife is not properly caring for the children during her parenting time.

Frequently cited examples include mom increasingly leaving the child for longer periods at daycare or with babysitters to spend more time with her new boyfriend, and that mom has begun going out later, drinking more than normal, and sometimes picking up the children from daycare after happy hour.

Here are 6 actions a father can try to remedy the situation and help his children when he believes his ex-wife is being neglectful to their children during her parenting time.

Question:

I was recently promoted and will receive an increased salary. Since I pay child support to my ex-wife am I legally obligated to inform her or the court of my increased income?

I assume that would automatically result in a child support modification and an increase in my payments.

Question:

My question is about how much alimony and child support I am going to have to pay and if those calculations are based on my current overloaded work schedule.

I work two jobs and nearly 80 hours a week to support my family because my wife refuses to work. I have been doing this for years.

Will my alimony and child support payments be based on these outrageous work hours or will a judge calculate payments based on a reasonable work week that hopefully I can return to post-divorce?

Question:

While preparing for an upcoming child support modification hearing, it came to my attention that my ex-wife has a significant amount of money held in stocks that my previous divorce attorney was somehow unable to locate.

I speculate that my ex-wife hid these assets somehow during our divorce. Can I subpoena documents from her employer and/or investment firm to determine the full amount of assets my ex-wife has and potentially hid from me?
