Sporting News Radio Interviews Joseph Cordell About McCourt Divorce

McCourt divorceAs a trusted voice in the divorce landscape, Cordell & Cordell co-founder Joseph Cordell was once again called on by Sporting News Radio to dissect the potential divorce settlement between Los Angeles Dodgers owners Frank and Jamie McCourt – and the possible ramifications it could bring to one of Major League Baseball’s most storied franchises.

Various news agencies have reported that Frank and Jamie reached what could turn out to be the costliest divorce settlement in the history of California; Frank would regain control of the Dodgers while Jamie would walk away with more than $130 million.

The settlement comes prior to a four-day hearing before a Delaware bankruptcy judge who will ultimately decide whether the Dodgers’ $2-3 billion TV deal can be sold at auction.

Cordell said Jamie is making a united front with Frank to battle bankruptcy and ensure Frank is the owner of the Dodgers per the divorce settlement. Frank has reduced his risk a lot, and he is more credible in the eyes of the bankruptcy judge, according to Cordell.

“However, Frank McCourt is not a sympathetic character and the court is offended by the fact that he and has wife ran through $100-150 million in lavish living,” he said. “Judges are not impressed with that.”
